THE INVESTIGATION SERVICE OF MINISTRY OF FINANCE OF GEORGIA HAS IMPOSED CRIMINAL LIABILITY ON TWELVE PERSONS FOR ILLEGAL TRANSPORTATION AND SELLING OF TIMBER, USING FORGED BILL OF LADING

THE INVESTIGATION SERVICE OF MINISTRY OF FINANCE OF GEORGIA HAS IMPOSED CRIMINAL LIABILITY ON TWELVE PERSONS FOR ILLEGAL TRANSPORTATION AND SELLING OF TIMBER, USING FORGED BILL OF LADING

The Investigation Service of Ministry of Finance of Georgia is actively working on detecting and exposing persons occupied with illegal sales of timber. Representatives of the Investigation Service carried out several important activities in the period of October-November 2017 in Imereti and Samtskhe-Javakheti regions.

 

As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out, criminal liability was imposed on 12 persons under first part of article 210 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, on fact of illegal transportation and selling of timber in Samtskhe- Javakheti region, using forged bills of lading. Especially large amount of timber was seized.

 

As a result of investigative activities, 7 facts of illegal transportation and selling of timber, using forged bills of lading were exposed. Penalties sanctioned under article 286 of Tax Code of Georgia were imposed on all the offenders. Large amount of timber that didn’t have appropriate documentation was seized.

 

The investigation Service will continue to carry out corresponding activities in order to detect and expose above mentioned offenses and persons involved in future.
