THE INVESTIGATION SERVICE EXPOSED THREE FACTS OF BREACHING THE PROCEDURE RELATED TO THE MOVEMENT OF GOODS ACROSS THE CUSTOMS BORDER

As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out together with the Customs Department of the Revenue Service, Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia has exposed three facts of breaching the procedure related to the movement of goods across the customs border. Three persons were accused and criminal liability was imposed on them.

 

Investigation has determined that in one case the accused person illegally imported large amount of gold products in Georgia through the customs checkpoint "Tsiteli Khidi", with the customs value of GEL 16 390.

 

In other two cases the accused persons were trying to transport highest grade gold and gold products subject to declaration, with violation of custom rules, from Georgia to the Republic of Turkey, through customs checkpoint “Sarpi”, with total customs value of GEL 36 536.

 

As a result of investigative activities total amount of  seized  goods equals 627 grams of gold and gold products  with overall customs value of GEL 52 926.

 

Investigation is underway under the first part of article 214 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 3 to 5 years.
