As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities, representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, in September of current year, exposed 11 facts of storage and transportation of excisable tobacco products in a large quantity without excise marks.

Thirteen persons are accused on the fact of committing abovementioned criminal activity and seven of them are detained.

As a result of the investigative activities, more than 35 000 boxes of cigarettes without excise marks having market value exceeding GEL 136 000, which were intended to be sold, were seized from the accused persons, in Samegrelo and Kvemo Kartli regions.

Investigation is underway under the first, second and third parts of article 200 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisage imprisonment from 6 to 8 years.
