INVESTIGATION SERVICE OF THE MINISTRY OF FINANCE OF GEORGIA CHARGED SEVEN PERSONS AND DETAINED TWO OF THEM ON THE FACT OF OBTAINING TITLE ON STATE PROPERTY IN LARGE AMOUNT BY DECEIT

INVESTIGATION SERVICE OF THE MINISTRY OF FINANCE OF GEORGIA CHARGED SEVEN PERSONS AND DETAINED TWO OF THEM ON THE FACT OF OBTAINING TITLE ON STATE PROPERTY IN LARGE AMOUNT BY DECEIT

As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities, representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia charged seven persons as accused and detained two of them on the fact of obtaining title on state property in large amount by deceit for its unlawful appropriation by manufacturing and using forged documents.

One of the detainees is a current employee of Mtskheta Municipality and the other is a former employee.

Investigation revealed that, by using forged documents, accused persons registered 4700 square meter state-owned land plot located in Mtskheta Municipality with estimate value of GEL 50 000 and in addition to the following, they tried to register in the Public Registry the 4 690 square meter adjacent land plot having value GEL 53 000 by use of forged documents.

At present, the land plot is sequestrated and appropriate measures are being taken to identify and prosecute other persons involved in the crime.

Investigation is underway under third part of article 180, second part of article 362 and article 341 of the Criminal Code of  Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 6 to 9 years.
