As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out, on the basis of court ruling, representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, detained head of construction company and employee of the Mayor’s office of Khelvachauri municipality on fact of fraudulent misappropriation of large amount of state property, whereas criminal liability was imposed on one person on the fact of producing forged documents.

Investigation determined that the accused person, head of one of the construction companies, fulfilled rehabilitation works of House of Culture of Akhalsheni and its surrounding area, ordered by Mayor’s office of Khelvachauri municipality.  During above mentioned works, in order to receive illegal material benefit, he artificially expanded volumes of works in documentation regarding the works to be accomplished. This way he illegally received GEL 33 787. 

During the investigation process, other circumstances were also determined. Employee of the Mayor’s office of Khelvachauri municipality was obliged to do supervision of works. During the process of fulfilling his duties, above mentioned person helped the head of construction company in deceitful misappropriation of state money, whereas expert of expertise authority – issued the forged conclusion, as if the actual works carried out on the site were matching the works stated in documents. 

Investigation is underway under third part of article 180 and second part of article 362 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 6 to 9 years.
