As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities, representatives of the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance detained one person on the fact of bribery, in the region of Kvemo Kartli.

The investigation revealed that with intention to gain illicit material benefit, representative of the mayor of the Gardabani Municipality in one of the administrative units, demanded and received bribe of GEL 2 000 from a citizen in exchange for providing relevant documentation with violation of legislative requirements, allowing temporary use of the state-owned land on the territory of the municipality and buildings thereon.

Investigation is underway under the first part of article 338 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 6 to 9 years.
