INVESTIGATION SERVICE OF THE MINISTRY OF FINANCE OF GEORGIA AND UNIVERSITY OF PORTSMOUTH, UK SIGNED MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING

Memorandum of Understanding between Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia and University of Portsmouth, UK has been signed by Vakhtang Paresishvili - Deputy Head of Investigation Service and Sarah Duckering - Director of Research and Innovation Services of the University of Portsmouth. 

During the meeting, the parties discussed about the importance of sharing experiences on methodology and practice within their competences, covering the following areas: explore future research projects in the area of economic crime and other relevant crimes, especially when it comes to their functioning, prevention, investigation and detection; deliver courses for Investigation Service staff, including distance learning and on-campus learning; and creation and development of joint specialized research and education centers.

It is noteworthy that the University of Portsmouth became the first higher educational institution, with whom Investigation Service established professional partnership throughout its 20-year history. Investigation Service will be concentrated in close cooperation with the Centre for Cybercrime and Economic Crime (CCEC) at the University of Portsmouth in order to advance qualification of its investigators and relevant staff with the valuable expertise and extensive knowledge through specific training courses, as well as enhance research, teaching and innovation skills in these fields.

Specific activities in relevant areas will be defined in near future, with the aim of deepening further cooperation between the parties.
