MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WAS SIGNED BETWEEN INVESTIGATION SERVICE AND FINANCIAL CRIME INVESTIGATION SERVICE OF LITHUANIA

Delegation of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia lead by Head of Investigation Service – Mr. Soso Ramishvili had a working visit in the Republic of Lithuania. Representatives of Investigation Service had meeting with Mr. Rustamas Liubajevas - Chief Adviser of the Ministry of the Interior, Mr. Antoni Mikulskis - Director of Financial Crime Investigation Service and other officials.  Mr. Levan Gvachliani - Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Georgia to Lithuania, also attended the meeting.

Within the frames of the meeting, Memorandum of Understanding was signed between parties, in the field of combating against financial-economic crime, signed by head of Investigation Service - Mr. Soso Ramishvili and Director of Financial Crime Investigation Service of the Republic of Lithuania - Mr. Antoni Mikulskis.

 

Memorandum of Understanding between parties, envisages mutual cooperation in the direction of exposing, suppressing and investigating crimes committed in financial-economic field. “Memorandum of understanding was signed between Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia and its colleague authority in the Republic of Lithuania. I am happy that parties signed the document. Sharing experience with European colleagues is very important for us. I hope that, our relationship will continue in future and will bring significant results for the authorities of both countries.” - Head of Investigation Service Mr. Soso Ramishvili stated.

 

“I am happy that Memorandum of Understanding was signed between two law-enforcement authorities, Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia and Financial Crime Investigation Service of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Lithuania. We hope that within the frames of above mentioned Memorandum, our cooperation will deepen and mutual projects will be implemented, which will bring concrete positive effects.” -  Director of Financial Crime Investigation Service of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Lithuania, Mr. Antoni Mikulskis underlined.

 

On the meetings held within the frames of the visit, topics of discussions were:  methodology of investigation of crimes committed in financial-economic field, cooperation of colleagues from the Republic of Lithuania with European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF), importance of using different databases during investigation process, different main aspects of activities of colleague authorities of Georgia and Lithuania.

 

Within the frames of visit, head of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, Mr. Soso Ramishvili had a meeting with, Acting General Director of Customs Department of Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Lithuania, Mr. Vytenis Alisauskas and other officials. Hosts introduced activities of Customs Department to delegation of Investigation Service, spoke about regulatory legal basis, organizational structure, functioning of customs checkpoints. Parties shared experience in the field of combating against customs crime. Meetings were also held with Deputy Head of Special Investigation Service (national anti-corruption agency) of Lithuania, Mr. Egidijus Radzevicius and other officials. Achievements and challenges, priority directions, as well as activities carried out in the direction of awareness of public, in the field of combating against corruption in the Republic of Lithuania, was introduced to delegation of Investigation Service in details.

Specific activities in specific directions were planned during the meetings, with the aim of deepening future cooperation between law-enforcement authorities of two countries.
