INVESTIGATION SERVICE DETAINED ONE PERSON ON THE FACT OF MANUFACTURING AND USING OF FORGED TAX DOCUMENTS BY GROUP OF PEOPLE

As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities, representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, detained one person on the fact of manufacturing and using of forged tax documents by group of people.

 

Investigation determined, that the accused person, together with accomplices, in order to receive illegal material benefit, registered more than 10 enterprises, on the name of socially unprotected persons and persons with previous conviction in different serious crimes, without an intention of carrying out entrepreneurial activities. Through these enterprises, the accused person was carrying out fictitious purchases and levying of scrap metal. Due to these illegal actions, value added tax was refunded from the state budget to the entrepreneur, furthermore refunded sums of money were used to cover the obligations towards the state budget.

 

On the current stage of investigation, it was determined that the amount of illegally refunded value added tax equals more than GEL 1 200 000. Corresponding investigative activities to expose other individuals related to above mentioned criminal activities, are in process.

 

Investigation is underway, under first and second parts of article 220 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 4 to 7 years.
