As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out, representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, in coordination with the representatives of LEPL National Food Agency of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, imposed criminal liability on one person, on the fact of falsification of meat products.
Investigation determined that one of the individual entrepreneurs, producing meat products, was producing so called “Sujuk” in an artisan made meat products enterprise, in Tbilisi. Instead of beef and pork as described/mentioned on the etiquette, the accused person was using horse meat in the process of production.
As a result of investigative activities raw horse meet, prepared for processing, was seized together with ready products.
Besides this, as a result of activities carried out in Tbilisi, representatives of Investigation Service exposed five enterprises, owned by different companies, where falsified sausages were produced for selling purpose.
Large quantity of different products were seized. At this stage, corresponding expertize of the seized products is ongoing.
Investigation is underway under first part of Article 197 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 1 to 3 years.
