On September 6, 2017 the Investigation Service of Ministry of Finance of Georgia started investigation of the fact of bribery.
According to the existing operative information, employees of one of the companies testing vehicles on compatibility with roads and having respective accreditation, in order to receive benefit, made technical inspection of vehicles with violation of approved technical regulations. It has to be noted, that according to valid legislation (article 11 and unit 5 of article 62 of law of Georgia “On Road Traffic”) vehicles having the weight exceeding 3500 kg must be tested on compatibility with roads.
As a result of those operative-searching and investigative activities carried out, two certified inspectors of testing center of one of the companies accredited by LEPL “Unified National Body of Accreditation - Georgian Accreditation Center” were accused in bribery and preparation of forged documents and criminal liability was imposed on them.
Investigation has determined that the accused persons in order to receive illegal income, have issued the cards and corresponding signboards for on compatibility with roads for technically improper vehicles by violating official duties and rules of the technical regulation “Testing Vehicles On Compatibility With Roads And Methods Of Testing Carried Out To Determine Their Correspondence With Auxiliary Technical Requirements.”
Investigation is underway under the first part of article 362 and fourth part of article 221 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 4 to 6 years.
