As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out by representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, one person is exposed on the fact of damage of property by deception, deceitful misappropriation of large quantity of state property by means of using official powers, abusing official powers.

Investigation determined that, the state gave 4 406 sq. m. plot of non-agricultural land, situated close to Poti, to the non-entrepreneurial (non-commercial) legal entity by means of usufruct, for the purpose of running an enterprise having a social status. Despite the specific purpose of usage of the given land, the accused person, in order to receive illegal material benefit, by using and abusing official powers, illegally sold 2 226 sq. m. of the above mentioned land plot to individuals, for the purpose of building cemeteries. That caused a material damage to the state equaled to GEL 122 466.

Investigation is underway under the third part of Article 180, third part of Article 185 and Article 220 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 6 to 9 years.
