As a result of operative-searching and operative activities carried out by the representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, criminal prosecution was initiated against one person on the fact of illegal entrepreneurial activity.

The investigation determined that the accused, in order to obtain illegal material benefits, exchanged various convertible virtual assets in national and foreign currencies from the cryptocurrency exchange facility, without mandatory registration in the National Bank of Georgia, as a result of which he received a large amount of income in the form of a commission from the converted asset.

As a result of investigative activities, a large amount of cash and cryptocurrency, as well as computer equipment containing information, was seized.

The investigation is being conducted under the first part of Article 192 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 1 to 3 years.
