INVESTIGATION SERVICE EXPOSED FIVE FACTS OF STORING AND TRANSPORTING CIGARETTES WITHOUT EXCISE MARKS

As a result of operative searching and investigative activities carried out, representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, in coordination with the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, exposed five facts of storing and transportation of large quantity of goods subject to marking, without excise marks in Tbilisi, Shida-Kartli and Kvemo Kartli regions.


Investigation determined that those persons exposed, were storing and transporting tobacco products under “HEETS” and “PARLIAMENT” brands, used for so called electronic cigarettes, with the purpose of future sales.

 

As a result of investigation activities, total of 4 290 packs of cigarettes without excise marks were seized, having the overall market value exceeding GEL 23 000.

 

Investigation is underway under the first and second parts of Article 200 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 4 to 6 years.
