As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out, representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, in coordination with representatives of the Revenue Service of Georgia, exposed four facts of storing and transportation of large quantity of products subject to marking, without excise marks.

During the investigative activities, in Tbilisi and Samegrelo region, large quantity of cigarettes without excise marks and “HEETS” brand cigarettes, used for so called IQOS- electronic cigarettes, prepared for the purpose of selling above mentioned products afterwards, were seized from the residing houses and machines of exposed persons. As a result of investigative activities carried out in Kvemo Kartli region has been determined that person exposed in crime was trying transportation of “HEETS” brand cigarettes hidden in the wagon of the train trough checkpoint “Sadakhlo”.

As a result of investigative activities 4 598 packs of cigarettes without excise marks and 1 090 packs of “HEETS” brand cigarettes were seized, having market value more than GEL 20 000.

Investigation is underway under the first and second parts of Article 200 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 4 to 6 years.
