INVESTIGATION SERVICE EXPOSED TWO FACTS OF STORING AND TRANSPORTING OF CIGARETTES WITHOUT EXCISE MARKS

As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities, representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, in coordination with the representatives of Monitoring Department of Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, exposed two facts of storing and transporting of large amount of goods subject to marking, without excise marks in Tbilisi and Batumi.

 

Investigation determined that persons exposed in the crime, were storing and transporting tobacco products of “HEETS” brand (used for electronic cigarette IQOS) for the purpose of further sale.

 

As a result of investigative activities 1618 packs of cigarettes without excise marks, with total market value exceeding GEL 16 000 were seized.

 

Investigation is underway under the second part of Article 200 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 4 to 6 years.
