As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities, representatives of the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia have arrested an employee of the Customs Department of the Revenue Service of Georgia, head of the shift of one of the customs checkpoints, on abuse of authority.
Investigation has determined that the accused person having financial interest, with prior agreement, let one of the citizens go through customs checkpoint without any examination or control. As a result of this violation the above mentioned citizen has covertly imported large amount of undeclared goods on customs territory of Georgia.
Investigation is underway under first part of article 332 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment up to 3 years.
