INVESTIGATION SERVICE CHARGED TWO PERSONS ON THE FACT OF CUSTOMS RULES VIOLATION

As a result of investigative-searching and operative activities, representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia in coordination with the representatives of Customs Department of the Revenue Service, have detected two facts of violation of the rules regarding the movement of goods in large quantities on the customs border of Georgia. Two persons were charged on the following fact.

 

Investigation found out that, in first case the defendant has entered territory of Georgia through the International Airport of Georgia and hidden from the customs control, brought 163 undeclared mobile phones onto the territory of Georgia. As of second case, total 1 914 kg of undeclared textile products were imported through the customs checkpoint "Sarpi".

 

As a result of investigative activities, goods having total value GEL 161 000 have been seized.

 

Investigation is underway under second part of the article 214 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 5 to 7 years.
