As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out, representatives of the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia have arrested a citizen of Azerbaijan for the violation of rules of transportation of goods in especially large quantities through the customs border of Georgia as well as illegal storing and transportation of especially large quantities of psychotropic substance.

The investigation has determined that the accused person was trying to transport especially large quantity of different types of drugs with total customs value of GEL 62 000 in a vehicle driven by him, through customs checkpoint “Tsiteli Khidi”. As a result of investigative activities 716 sheets of drug “Lyrica” (containing 3000 grams of psychotropic substance- pregabalin) was also seized.

Investigation is underway under the second part of article 214, fourth part of article 261 and the third part of article 263 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
