As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out, representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, in coordination with representatives of Customs Department of Revenue Service of Georgia, exposed a fact of breaching the procedure related to movement of goods across the customs border of Georgia by group of people with prior agreement.
Investigation determined that persons exposed in crime, were trying to import covertly, especially large amount of undeclared golden goods, through customs checkpoint “Sarpi”.
As a result of investigative activities 1024 grams of golden goods were seized with total customs value exceeding GEL 57 000.
Investigation is underway under fifth part of Article 214 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 8 to 11 years.
