INVESTIGATION SERVICE ARRESTED ONE PERSON ON ILLEGAL IMPORT OF LARGE AMOUNT OF PNEUMATIC, SIGNAL AND FIREARM GUNS

As a result of mutual activities carried out by representatives of the Investigation Service of Ministry of Finance of Georgia, together with the Customs Department of Revenue Service of Georgia, one person was arrested on illegal import of large amount of pneumatic, signal and firearm guns through customs border of Georgia.

 

Investigation has determined that the accused person has crossed customs border of Georgia through the customs check-point “Sarpi”. According to the documents presented, the accused person was carrying building materials by means of “DAF” truck being under his driving. During the customs control procedures, large amount of goods were discovered in hidden compartments specially arranged in the above mentioned truck. The accused person was trying to import illegally undeclared goods to the territory of Georgia. Illegally imported goods contained - pneumatic and signal guns, firearm shot-guns, cartridges and spare parts of guns.

 

As a result of the investigative activities, smuggled goods were seized as physical evidence.

 

Investigation is underway under first and fourth parts of article 214 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment form 5 to 8 years.
