Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia continues active investigative activities in order to expose pharmacies without the relevant permit and in violation of permit conditions. As a result of complex measures conducted in Tbilisi and in the regions of Samegrelo, Shida Kartli and Kakheti in June-August of the current year, 18 pharmacies operating in violation of the law were exposed.
As a result of conducted operative-searching activities, it was determined that mentioned pharmacies did not have the permits for their activities, and they were selling psychotropic drugs and drugs subject to special control of various names, without a prescription.
As a result of investigative activities, large amount of psychotropic drugs, money received from their sale, computer equipment containing information and documentation were seized.
At this stage, criminal prosecution has been carried out against 33 persons. Investigation is being continued under the Article 192 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 1 to 3 years.
