Head of Investigation Service, Soso Ramishvili, and management team members hosted the delegation of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Latvia and the Tax and Customs Police Department of the State Revenue Service, leaded by Olga Bogdanova - Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Finance. Latvian colleagues got acquainted in details with the specifics of the Investigation Service activities, its priorities and the results achieved within the recent period.
Considering the planned structural reorganization in the Ministry of Finance of Latvia, Aigars Prusaks - Director of the Tax and Customs Police Department of the State Revenue Service and members of the delegation were provided with comprehensive information about the institutional changes implemented during the 20-year history of Investigation Service and its current mandate. The parties discussed the specific directions of the fight against crimes committed in the financial-economic field, analytical activities, information gathering and processing, crime detection, prevention and suppression, including ways and methods of obtaining evidence in the process of investigation.
At the end of the meeting, Georgian and Latvian colleagues noted that deepening of cooperation in the direction of tax evasion, money laundering, combating the illegal circulation of products subject to excise and crimes with a cyber-component committed in the financial and economic field, considering the interests of the both States, would help to minimize the risks of financial-economic crimes.
