As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out, representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, detained one person on the fact of deceitful misappropriation of large quantity of another person’s property.

Investigation determined that the accused person, fraudulently contacted and gained trust of one of the persons, who had an excess of VAT  in the amount of GEL 112 000,  assured him that with support of high level official, he could help him to cash out VAT excess and asked GEL 35 000 in return. The accused person asked and took GEL 20 000 in advance from the above mentioned sum of money, this is when he was arrested.

Investigation is underway under third part of article 19-180 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 6 to 9 years.
