As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out, representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia in coordination with representatives of Customs Department of Revenue Service of Georgia, exposed two facts of breaching the procedure related to movement of especially large amount of goods across the customs border of Georgia and imposed criminal liability on three persons.
Investigation determined that the accused persons covertly imported to Georgia, large amount of undeclared golden goods (approximately 2 kg), through customs checkpoint “Sarpi”.
Total customs value of goods seized as a result of investigative activities estimates more than GEL 100 000.
Investigation is underway under first and second parts of Article 214 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 5 to 7 years.
