As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities, representatives of the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, in coordination with the representatives of the Revenue Service, exposed two persons on the facts of falsification of alcoholic beverages and manufacturing and use of counterfeited excise marks.
Investigation revealed that the accused persons had two restaurants in the city of Batumi, where they were bottling falsified alcoholic beverages of foreign brands, marking them with those counterfeited excise marks made by them and selling in the abovementioned restaurants.
As a result of investigative activities, large quantity of falsified alcoholic beverages, counterfeited excise marks and subsequent printing materials were seized.
Following crime is subject to punishment under the first part of article 197 and the second part of article 2001 of Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisage imprisonment from 4 to 6 years.
