Investigation Service detained one person on the fact of commercial bribery and manufacturing and selling prescriptions

As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out by the representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, in coordination with the Kakheti District Prosecutor's Office, one person has been detained on the fact of commercial bribery and manufacturing and selling prescriptions in order to purchase psychotropic substances.

Investigation determined that the accused person worked as the director of a private „Psycho-Diagnostics and Psycho-Correction Center“ operating in the Kakheti region.  The detainee was systematically issuing prescriptions for the purchase of psychotropic substances without proper medical examination, in exchange for money, in order to gain illicit material benefit.

The accused was detained on the fact of selling prescription.

Investigation is underway under the third part of Article 221 and the second part of Article 268 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which as a type and extent of sentence, envisage imprisonment from three to six years. 

Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia continues its active efforts to detect and prevent cases of manufacturing and selling prescriptions in order to purchase psychotropic substances.
