As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out by the representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, the director of a Non-Entrepreneurial (Non-Commercial) Legal Entity “Jokia Meshveliani Cultural Center” of Lentekhi Municipality City Hall, N.S. has been detained on the fact of bribe-taking.

Investigation determined that N.S. performed public functions on behalf of the Lentekhi municipality, which was in charge of the Cultural Center and one of its ensembles. The accused, in order to receive a large amount of bribe, demanded from one of the individuals interested in the concert program and ten-day rental of the hall a bribe in the amount of GEL 20,000.

At the demand of the detainee, GEL 5,000 were to be officially transferred to the account of N(N)LE, and GEL 15,000 were to be given to N.S. In order to conceal the criminal intent, N.S. prepared two contracts, one for the rental of a space and the other for holding a fictitious concert.

N.S. has been detained on the fact of taking part of the requested amount, GEL 7,000.

Investigation is underway under the first part of Article 338 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which as a type and extent of sentence, envisages imprisonment from six to nine years.

Investigation is actively ongoing with the aim of exposing other municipal officials who may have been involved in the criminal act.

Investigation Service calls on all citizens to respect the Constitution and laws of Georgia, otherwise, the strictest measures will be carried out, especially on the facts of misappropriation of the state budget funds and corruption.
