As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out by the representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, in coordination with the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia, eight individuals were detained on the fact of causing GEL 3 926 261 damage to the state budget by deceit, by an organized group.
Investigation determined that the members of an organized group developed a criminal scheme within which they created dozens of companies, including: "Namora 2021" LLC, "Tbili Kera" LLC, "Olympus 1988" LLC, "Ramina 22" LLC, "Namora" LLC, "Kubiki" LLC, "Randa 2023" LLC, "Zaza 2022" LLC and "Evi 2022" LLC.
It was also established, that through the companies named above, in 2021–2024, approximately 130 000 cubic meters of wood material worth GEL 102 million were transported from the Svaneti to various regions of Georgia and subsequently sold.
While selling wood material, the members of an organized group caused a large amount of damage to the state budget - GEL 3 926 261 - by providing false data in the VAT declarations.
Investigation is underway under the part 2 of Article 210, the part 3 of Articles 2051 and the part 3 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which as a type of sentence, envisage imprisonment from four to seven years.
Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia is carrying out intensive investigative activities to identify other individuals involved in organized criminal activity. Measures provided by the law are being undertaken to ensure compensation for damage caused to the state budget, and during the investigation process, it is not ruled out that the amount of damage caused to the state budget may increase.
