As a result of investigative activities carried out by the representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, in July of the current year, criminal prosecution was initiated against four entrepreneurial entities, on the facts of tax evasion in particular large amounts.

Investigation determined that the accused persons, in order to obtain illegal material benefits, in violation of the tax legislation, were systematically declaring the income of the company under their management incorrectly, in which way they avoided the principal amount of tax belonging to the state budget – totally equaling GEL 865 904.

Investigation is underway under the second part of Article 218 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which as a type and extent of sentence, envisages imprisonment from five to eight years.

Appropriate measures are being carried out in order to collect compensation for the damages caused to the state budget.

Investigation Service calls on entrepreneurial entities to comply with the requirements established by the Constitution and legislation of Georgia and to promptly ensure the payment of their tax arrears to the state budget.
