Representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia detained one person on the fact of storage and transportation of excisable goods without excise marks, in particularly large quantities.

As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities, a total of 93 000 packs of non-excised Marlboro, Parliament, Sobranie, and Winston cigarettes were seized. Total market value of the seized goods exceeds GEL 750 000.

Investigation is underway under the third part of the Article 200 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which as a type of sentence, envisages imprisonment from six to eight years.

Investigation Service continues intensive activities to identify other persons involved in the criminal scheme and ensure legal measures against them.
