As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out, representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia has detained one person on the fact of illegal import of goods in a particularly large amount in violation of customs rules.

Investigation determined that the accused, using specially arranged hiding place in the vehicle driven be him, secretly imported 665.71 grams of jewelry through the customs checkpoint "Kazbegi", with a total value of GEL 150 271.71.

As a result of conducted investigative activities, above-mentioned jewelry, as well as the vehicle driven by the accused, were seized.

Investigation is underway under Article 214, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which as a type of sentence envisages imprisonment for a term of 5 to 8 years.
