The Minister of Finance of Georgia, Mr. Lasha Khutsishvili, presented the new Head of Investigation Service of Ministry of Finance of Georgia, Mr. Merab Gamkrelidze, to the heads of structural units and employees of the Service.

Mr. Lasha Khutsishvili congratulated Mr. Merab Gamkrelidze on his appointment as the Head of Investigation Service and wished him success in his new position.

The Minister noted that Mr. Merab Gamkrelidze has many years of experience working at Investigation Service. At different times, he held managerial positions at the agency and is well-acquainted with both the specifics of the Service’s activities and the challenges facing it.

According to Mr. Lasha Khutsishvili, it is important that Investigation Service, under its new leadership, actively continues the prevention, detection and effective investigation of financial and economic crimes.

“I am confident that Mr. Merab Gamkrelidze’s professional experience and the knowledge he has accumulated over the years will significantly contribute significantly to the effective operation of Investigation Service and the successful implementation of the tasks set before it’“ the Minister noted.

Mr. Merab Gamkrelidze thanked the Minister of Finance for his trust and support and noted that the agency will continue to actively and effectively carry out the functions defined by legislation.

Prior to his appointment as Head of Investigation Service, Mr. Merab Gamkrelidze held various managerial positions at the Department of Relations with Regions of the Administration of the Government of Georgia, the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance and LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensics Bureau.

At the meeting, the Minister of Finance thanked the former Head of Investigation Service, Mr. Levan Kharabadze, for his contribution to the Service and productive cooperation and wished him success in his future work.
