As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out by the representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, in coordination with the Prosecution Service of Georgia, based on a court ruling, detained David Tabidze - former Executive Director of the LEPL Municipal Development Fund of Georgia, on the fact of abuse of official powers.
The program manager and the project manager of the Fund were also detained in connection with the abovementioned case, and they fully cooperated with the investigation. The bail was applied as a measure of restraint against them.
As the public already is informed, the executives of Lagi Capital LLC have been detained for the fraudulent misappropriation of GEL 9 365 801 allocated from the Municipal Development Fund for the rehabilitation of 30 kindergartens and the legalization of illegal income, amounting GEL 1 211 000.
Investigation determined that they were aware, that the advance applications submitted by Lagi Capital LLC between July 2023 and May 2024 were unsubstantiated and only partially secured. Although the advance received by the company in July 2023 was not spent for its intended purpose, the named individuals, in spite of the abused their official powers and, in order to provide preferences, they issued Lagi Capital LLC an unsubstantiated advance payment in the amount of GEL 11 218 380 for the rehabilitation of kindergartens in 2023-2024. The management of Lagi Capital LLC fraudulently acquired GEL 9 365 801 out of the abovementioned sum.
Investigation is underway under the first part of Article 332, the second and third parts of Article 180, the second and third parts of Article 194 and the second part of Article 362 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which as a type of sentence, envisage imprisonment from nine to twelve years.
Investigation is in progress intensively with respect to the case, in order to identify and expose other individuals involved in the abovementioned crime and taking appropriate actions.
