Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia exposed facts of issuing forged Technical Inspection Certificates for vehicles

On the basis of operative information received recently, representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia started investigations in technical inspection centers situated in different regions throughout the country, on the facts of issuing positive reports for technical inspection certificates granted to technically unfit vehicles, by means of violation of those requirements approved by the Government Decree on Technical Rules.

 

As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities, 10 technical inspection centers were exposed in Tbilisi, Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, Imereti, Kakheti and Mtskheta-Mtianeti regions. During the course of inspection process, despite visual or/and technical damages of the municipal as well as private vehicles, employees of the above mentioned centers were issuing the forged technical inspection certificates, proving as if those vehicles went through the inspection procedures with positive assessment.

 

On the basis of a court ruling, representatives of Investigation Service, carried out investigative activities in the above mentioned technical inspection centers. At this stage, corresponding expertises is proceeding.

 

Investigation is underway, under the second part of Article 362 and the fourth part of Article 221 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 4 to 6 years.
